Well the new site is beginning to get some posts & quite a lot of views. As the current class chairman it would be really good to get some feedback on what vareo sailors are doing. Are you flying solo at your club, do have other vareos to sail against, are you racing, if so how is it going?? Some feedback on vareo events would be good, would your club like an event, can the associatin help more?? Let us know what you think, Richard Willows

Well, unfortunately there are still only 11 members in this forum. I think most of the buzz is still on the Yahoo forum.

yes but two weeks ago no one was using this forum. Now it is starting and can only get better.
I bougth my Vareo last week but won't get her on the water until july. I was on club duty this week end and its the RTI next week (annual foray into big boat sailing) so it will be july hmmph! I will be the only Vareo t South Windermere SC I am looking forward to see how it goes in the handicap fleet.

Since buying my Vareo last weekend, I have been busy re-rigging using Richard Willows excellent tips and guides. I have sailed her twice now and the learning curve is vertical. I don't think that it has helped that it has been f3 gusting f5! I have been sailing for 16 years now but have never really sailed an out and out racer. Sadly I am the only Vareo at Chipstead SC so sailing handicap races. I think it will be some time before I am anywhere near the head of the fleet.

I may try and get to some opens so I can pick up some tips but I lack a road trailer at present.

Hi Stuart! Let's stay in touch and exchange experiences. I hope to make test sail #4 over here in Sweden this week. I live by the water so I constantly see lots of traditional sailboats gliding by. The challenge for me is mastering the Vareo well enough to be able to outrun most sailboats in sight. That is my kind of playful racing. Whenever I see another sailboat (usally much larger) I want to see if I can outrun it. I have much to learn...

road trailers. In my experience clubs are full of trailers that go nowhere. The vareo will fit on rs400 trailers, rs visions & probably most 14'boats, I am sure someone would lend one. I think you need less than a force 5 to start in a vareo, but keep going.
